Purchasing
For the fiscal year 2006, the Village made purchases totaling $7.9 million. By ordinance, the Village Administrator is the Village’s purchasing agent. The Director of Finance is oversees the day-to-day purchasing activities of specified goods, services, and construction required by the Village Departments, including the issuance and approval of purchase orders at the lowest possible cost, ensuring that the Village of Woodridge residents receive the maximum value for each dollar spent. The Finance Department also provides support to using departments in conducting formal bids, currently for contracts in excess of $20,000. Otherwise, the Village has a “decentralized” purchasing organization with each department responsible for their own purchasing.
What we do:
• Ensure that purchases comply with the Village of Woodridge’s
ordinances and statutes of the State of Illinois
• Ensure that all purchases promote fair and impartial competition
• Oversee the public bidding and proposal process
• Approve the purchase of goods and services for all Village
departments through purchase orders and contracts
• Perform research to find the maximum benefit for the funds spent
• Work with businesses interested in providing goods and/or services
to the Village
• Consolidate duplication of services between departments and
facilities
