Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson Recognized As Village Employee of the Year

Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson was recognized as the Village of Woodridge Employee of the Year, on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017 at the annual Community Recognition Awards program.
Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson has been with the Village of Woodridge Police Department since 1997.  During Tom’s tenure with the Village, he has made significant contributions toward elevating the Police Department’s community engagement efforts.  In particular, Tom has actively participated in JANO outreach events and other programs to support the children in the Woodridge community.  The Village has recently experienced an influx of new Police Officers, which is an exciting time for the Department.  An important component to onboarding new officers is the critical training and development of their skills and approach to law enforcement.  Tom has played an important role in developing new officers through his oversight of the Field Training Officer Program.  As Deputy Chief, Tom also plays an important role in mentoring and developing our newly promoted Sergeants in guiding them on how to be outstanding supervisors and leaders within the Department.  Tom has also been active in the Department’s Special Olympics charitable activities and participates in the annual “Polar Plunge” charity event.
