Your Government and You - Week 1: Serve Your Community

Woodridge is the proud home of nearly 33,000 self-described friendly people who have worked hand-in-hand with elected officials and Village staff over the years to imagine the best that Woodridge can be and help build that vision. One of the biggest and most consistent compliments the Mayor and Village Board hear is that residents' voices are heard and their contributions make a difference. Over the next three weeks, a different opportunity will be presented that you can use as a vehicle to get involved, starting today with information on how to serve Woodridge.

There are many ways to serve Woodridge, including serving as an appointed or elected official. Appointed officials serve on the Village Plan Commission, which reviews development proposals and the comprehensive plan, the Board of Police Commissioners hires all police officers and considers promotions to sergeant, and the Police Pension Board administers the pension plan for sworn officers of the Woodridge Police Department. Elected officials serve on the Village Board and other elected boards such as the Woodridge Public Library Board, Woodridge Park District Board, Grade School and High School Boards, and Fire Protection District Boards. Elections for these boards will take place in April 2017.
